After taking a few weeks off for the Dallas International Film Festival, we're back with a fresh set of awesome movies to check out this weekend. Check them out after the break.
This movie is hot stuff, y'all. It's a gorgeous black-and-white movie about a young man and a vampire he falls in love with. The cinematography here is gorgeous and terrifying and the new wave soundtrack is the perfect touch for this very dark movie. It was one of those movies that totally
Romantic Comedies are some of the most maligned movies that also make a butt-ton of money. Add in the quirky "Sundance" style to the rom-com formula and the movies end up becoming truly inssufferable. THEY CAME TOGETHER makes fun of all those tropes of a stereotypical rom-com in AIRPLANE! style of comedy that's relatively hit-or-miss, but the leads are Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler and they're crazy charming and I got some good out of it.
This one is one of my blind spots but I have heard nothing but great things about one of director David O. Russell's early movies before he became Mr. Oscar Bait. Dealing with 3 soldiers overseas who go and try to find a treasure, and the complications along the way, it's one of the first of a great run of movies for Russell.
