The Local Haps: January 20th - January 25th

This post comes late thanks to the short week, but that doesn't mean there's not a lot of great stuff to watch! Check out those after the break, including the Pick of the Week!




Tuesday, January 20th
Alamo Drafthouse: There will be a special screening of KILLERS at 7:00 pm, courtesy of WellGo USA! The synopsis and free tickets can be found after the link. Then, at 7:30 pm, there's a screening of THIEF. Michael Mann's classic with James Caan is one of the best crime movies and debut of a director out there and it's worth checking out on the big screen.



Wednesday, January 21st
Alamo Drafthouse: Tonight's a busy night starting with the MEAN GIRLS Quote-along at 7:30 pm. It's going to be so fetch! Then at 8:15 pm, you can watch one of the best comedies, NAY, best movies with THE NAKED GUN!

Granada At Sundown: The free movie of the week is the cult hit, STEP BROTHERS. As always, whiskey is always half off and the screening starts at 8 pm. The weather should be beautiful still so come out!


Thursday, January 22nd
Alamo Drafthouse: I'm not usually a fan of quote-alongs for comedies, but the one forMONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL is a really good one. It starts at 7:00 pm.


Friday, January 23rd
Texas Theatre: There is a very special screening of Tarsem Singh's THE FALL in 35mm. There will a themed art auction at 8pm, then the screening will begin at 9 pm, followed by an after party with DJ Sir Scotty Mac.


Saturday, January 24th
Alamo Drafthouse: As part of the Inherent Cinema tribute to INHERENT VICE, there's a screening of THE MASTER at noon. I frankly hated the movie back when it came out but maybe it's not so bad now?


Sunday, January 25th
Alamo Drafthouse: Continuing the detective theme of the month, the blaxoploitation classic, SHAFT screens at noon.


Texas Theatre: Pick of the Week! This is a totally biased but our dear friend Kelly Kitchens is having a birthday screening of SINGING IN THE RAIN in 35mm! Movie starts at 5 pm.

Then, stick around for the first part of epic Indian gangster film, GANGS OF WASSEYPUR at 7:15pm. This is is a special screening that will continue on Thursday with the 2nd part. Our friend Josh H (@hatefuljosh) on Twitter is really excited about this. Follow him for a chance for free tickets.
