Monday, August 11th
Alamo Drafthouse: Tough Guy Cinema week begins tonight with a 7:35 pm screening of FIRST BLOOD. Don't miss the chance to see Sly Stone before he pumped himself up with Botox!
Tuesday August 12th
Alamo Drafthouse: Tonight is a great night for a cheap double feature at the Drafthouse. First, you can go to the 7:00 pm screening of LETHAL WEAPON, starring Mel Gibson's mullet, and then head to Video Vortex, the only VHS only monthly series in town, for a 9:00 pm screening of PLEDGE NIGHT.
Wednesday, August 13th
Alamo Drafthouse: It seems Wednesdays are the unofficial Monty Python night. Last week, they showed the new live performance and this week there will be a Quote Along for MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL at 7:00 pm. Then at 8:00 pm there will be another Tough Guy Cinema screening featuring everyone's favorite human-hunting alien, PREDATOR at 8:00 pm. This also happens to be my Pick of the Week since it's one of the first screenings of the 4K restoration of the original movie.
Sundown At Granada: As part of their weekly free series, the Sundown will screen the classic mischevious gopher in a golf course comedy, CADDY SHACK screens at 8:00 pm upstairs. There'll be half off drink specials in their entire menu of whisky.
Thursday, August 14th
Alamo Drafthouse: It's Christmas in August with DIE HARD at 7:00 pm.
Friday, August 15th
Angelika Dallas: Angelika After Hours will screen BILL & TED'S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE at 11:30 pm.
Texas Theatre: A great opportunity for a double feature at the Theatre. There will be a special screening of the documentary THE DOG which features John Wojtowicz the inspiration for DOG DAY AFTERNOON, at 6:45 pm. Then, grab a White Russian from the bar and stick around for a 35mm print screening of the Coen Brothers' THE BIG LEBOWSKI at 9:00 pm.
Sunday, August 17th
Alamo Drafthouse: The most popular movie comedy troupe (that performs in Austin and Dallas) Master Pancake is coming back into town to make fun of the blockbuster that started it all, JAWS! There will be two performances at 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm. Earlier in the day, however you can watch the classic war movie, THE DIRTY DOZEN at 12:30 pm.
