Now that we're back from Fantastic Fest, I figured I'd take some time to recommend some great movies that just recently came out on Netflix. Check them out after the break.
This was one of those movies that I was sad to miss in the theaters. This is one of Steven Sodenbergh's last movies and it has one of my favorite modern actresses, Rooney Mara. I'll be checking this movie out over the weekend but it deals with a young woman (Mara) whose husband (Channing Tatum) just got released from jail which prompts her to take a medication with some crazy side effects. (I'm so sorry for that joke)
ELECTRICK CHILDREN
Recommended by my friend BTSjunkie, it's about a young woman from a devout Mormon family who shows up pregnant one day, claiming immaculate conception through music. Lead actress Julia Garner and director Rebecca Thomas have been widely praised for this movie.

Considering that this is the movie that inspired the friendship that inspired this blog and its name, I figured it would pretty apt to recommend this movie. The movie follows oil tycoon Daniel Plainview as he rises through in the world. The movie is beautiful in its cinematography and the breadth of the story. There are no "good guys" or "bad guys" here, just people making compromises to get ahead in the world.
That's it for me this week! Have a great weekend.
