We can finally see the light of summer season heading toward us. Let's get out of this pretty dull season of films shall we? With every new trailer get and with every bit of plot info we (don't) get, STAR TREK INTO THE DARKNESS is easily the most anticipated film for the summer, and thankfully we're just two short months away.
There's a new international trailer that was dropped today which has scores of new footage. Thanks to Empire for posting this original trailer.
Damn.
There is so much eye candy crammed into this trailer. Explosions! Cliff Jumping! Lens Flairs! Cumberbatch! And there can never be enough of Benedict Cumberbatch chewing on his lines that just drip with gravitas. Seriously, he's on the path of taking over Morgan Freeman's reign of great voice over work. With this trailer, we get to see a bit of Peter Weller as Starfleet Admiral and Alice Eve (well we see a lot of her) as Dr. Carol Marcus, who, not only has appeared in WRATH OF KHAN, is the mother of Kirk's only son. We'll see if Abrams story will follow this plot. Of course, most of the main plot points have been kept hush, hush and only hinted at as only Abrams can do. But I have faith in the lens flairs.
STAR TREK INTO THE DARKNESS will be released May 17, 2013 directed by JJ Abrams and stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, and Benedict Cumberbatch.
