Netflix Instant: Messed Up Love Movies Edition!

It just so happens that this week I get to write about Netflix and matters of the heart. This isn't some weird deal where that's all I think about, mind you. Anyway, this week's column is the one right before the ol' Valentine's Day so the theme will be "Movies That Have A Messed Up At Love." Check them out below!

LARS AND THE REAL GIRL

So this is one of those movies that Ryan Gosling got to do before he became a Tumblr mainstay. It's fascinating to see this movie about a guy carrying around a sex doll and calling it his girlfriend. I saw this back when I was a wee lad in the old country, so my memory is a bit hazy on it, but I remember really enjoying it at the time.

DAYDREAM NATION

Some day people will remember a time when Kat Dennings showed promise instead of degrading herself to terrible laugh track sitcom territory. I originally saw this movie at the Dallas International Film Festival a few years ago. It's one of the better high school stories I've seen where dorky kid falls for the big city girl who happens to be sleeping with their teacher, and there also might be a killer on the loose, and there's a fire The climax of this movie is one of the most tense scenes I've seen. 

HOW TO MURDER YOUR WIFE

This one I heard about thanks to the gents at Filmspotting during one of their episodes. This is about a man that fantasizes about killing his wife. I haven't gotten to see it quite yet, but the fact that it's a comedy with Mr. Jack Lemmon has me very excited to see it ASAP.
