There Better Be Some Funk Music In This: Lars Von Trier to direct NYMPHOMANIAC

Might be crazy but he's got swagger

Director Lars Von Trier's MELANCHOLIA has been one of the top movies I've been looking forward to.  Cannes shenanigans notwithstanding, it seems to be a fairly interesting drama about the end of the world, starring Kirsten Dunst and Charlotte Gainsborough.  Well, the movie has not yet gotten a wide release and we already started to hear about Von Trier's next movie that will shoot summer 2012; NYMPHOMANIAC courtesy of ScreenDaily.

According to the folks over at ScreenDaily, Von Trier has said that NYMPHOMANIAC will tell the story of “the erotic life of a woman from the age of zero to the age of 50.” For anyone that has seen his movies, the fact that he is doing something so explicit will, at the very least, create an interesting movie going experience.  What I find even more intriguing is that Von Trier envisions this as a mostly dialogue driven movie.  With the overload of CG I've experienced this summer, I feel pretty good about this.

Also of note is the fact that there might be two different versions of this movie, one lives up to the name and one that will screen a bit easier at your local art house cinema. It seems that the movie is in very early stages of development, with the bulk of the article devoted to finding financing for the film and scouting locations for shooting.  Either way, I am very excited about this, and you know you'll hear more from me on the matter as more information becomes available.
